Garian looked over the rickety railing at the swirling, storm-tossed waters below. A blinding flash of lightning illuminated the fin of a shark that circled the boat.
He'd half-expected the sea to calm down after the tremors subsided, once the ruined island had completely disappeared into the depths. The nightmare should be over, so why weren't the elements at peace?
Soon, the cold, wet sea air began to drain his strength, the boat's rhythmic rocking enough to lull him into a fitful sleep, full of dream fragments...
He woke up with a start, back on the boat, approaching the island.
