Title: An Angel In Time
Fandom: Charmed
Characters/Pairings: Leo/Piper
Word Count: 500
Rating: G/K
Summary: Piper's sisters are it again. But so, too, is her husband.
There were times when she could swear she heard bells around Leo. There were other times when he moved in complete silence, and still others, like now, when she felt swooshing wind as though he was moving quickly through clouds. She knew he was there before he wrapped his arms around her, and leaned back into him, thankful for his strong, warm, and reassuring embrace. Turning, she buried her head in his shoulder as she murmured, "They're arguing again."
"What about this time?" His sandy head cocked curiously to one side.
Piper shook her head slightly but did not lift her face from the shelter of his shirt. "I don't even know. Does it even matter? They're always fighting about something. They're too different, just like Grams said at times! Prue's always rushing, always pushing herself too hard, too fast, racing for that finish line, and Phoebe... Phebs is the complete opposite. She seems to have absolutely no direction for her future!"
"She does now," Leo gently protested. "You all do. You're the Charmed Ones."
"You know what I mean!" Piper pulled back to look up at him. Narrowing her brown eyes, she asked, "Or has it really been that long since you've been human that you've forgotten what the rat race is like?"
"No, it's not, but I never paid much attention to that even when I was... still amongst the living, I guess you could say," he concluded, wiggling his nose in distaste, a habit he'd picked up from his cherished wife.
"I guess that's true. You were always the peacemaker, the healer."
"Like you."
She shook her head. "I can't heal."
"I've seen you heal many times, Piper, better than any doctor ever. You do something more important than medicine. You heal hearts." He kissed her forehead, tenderly, reassuringly. "If anybody can fix those two, I know it's you."
It was her turn to wiggle her nose. Her lips moved back and forth before finally, with a pout, she asked, "Do I have to tonight?"
"No," he spoke firmly, pulling her closer against him. He kissed the top of her head. "You don't have to do anything tonight you don't want to, and we can go wherever you want."
She paused for a brief moment, considering his invitation. "How about Paris?"
"Why Paris?" he asked, frowning.
"Why not?" She shrugged, then grinned teasingly at him. "One of those famous, authentic Parisians baguettes would come a long way in settling my nerves." She wiggled her nose cutely at him this time.
"Would it?"
"Yes."
He beamed and wrapped his arms fully and firmly around her, pressing her head close against his shoulder. His chin brushed the top of her dark head as he spoke decisively, "Then Paris it is."
"PHOEBE, I KNOW YOU DIDN'T -- "
"WHAT, PRUE?! WHAT DIDN'T I DO THIS TIME?!"
But they were already orbing away, just before Piper's two sisters raced into the kitchen from opposing sides. Just in time, she thought, smiling.
