Title: 'Long Face'
Fandom: The Monkees
Characters/Pairings: Davy Jones, Mike Nesmith
Word Count: 200
Rating: G
Summary: Back pretty early from your date, huh?
Notes: Crossposted to
100prompts for Table #6/Prompt #16: Trouble, to
doubledrabbles for Challenge #19: Scot-Free, and on LiveJournal to beattheblackdog for Challenge #159: Exclusive
Scene: The Pad. Mike is at the kitchen table reading a newspaper when Davy comes in, looking glum.
Mike: Hey, Davy. (looking at his watch) Back pretty early from your date, huh?
Davy: (joining him, sullenly) That's right.
Mike: Why the long face? What the heck happened?
Davy: (rubbing his cheek) "Why the slapped face" would be a better question. (he sighs) I ran into a little trouble. Cathy found out about Mary-Ellen.
Mike: (nodding, with a sympathetic wince) Oh. I gotcha. Did she hear about Jess, and Marie, and the others?
Davy: No, thank goodness. Hearing about Mary-Ellen was bad enough! But now Cathy says she doesn't want to see me anymore. I don't understand it--it's not as though we agreed that we were exclusive.
Mike: Maybe not, but you shoulda known better than to date so many chicks at once. You were never gonna get away with that scot-free! That charm of yours can only go so far! You can't just wink and smile at a girl, and expect that she won't be jealous when you go out with somebody else.
Davy: I suppose you're right. It had to catch up with me eventually.
