"Who's this one?" Harley asked, her blonde pigtails bouncing as she petted Selina's newest lion.
"His name's Thorn."
"Thorn?" Harley asked, her brow furrowing. "Why ya got a name like that, huh, big fella?" She scratched him underneath his chin, and the big cat rumbled happily.
"What happened to the tree?" Ivy demanded coldly.
Selina rolled her emerald green eyes at her cool friend. "I don't know what happened in the tree," she replied. "I found him on my last trip to Africa. He was limping badly and bleeding from the thorn. Don't know how he got it or what happened to the tree." And it really doesn't matter what happened to the tree, she thought, but kept herself from speaking that detail aloud by busying herself petting her cats.
"Where was the mouse?" Harley asked.
"Excuse me?" Ivy questioned.
"Where was the mouse?" Harley asked again, swinging her pigtails. "You know, the mouse that helped him?"
Selina smiled. "That's what I like about you, Harls. No matter what the Joker does to you, you stay forever optomistic and childlike."
Ivy sniffed. She remembered a time when Harley had been akin to the child for whom they had cared together, but she'd moved on past both of these other women. She no longer liked working with them -- she didn't like working with any humans --, but drastic times called for drastic measures. Vines sprang up from Selina's walkway and grew into an enormous flower. She jumped up onto the center of the bud, leaned back, and watched the other two. "So are we going to plan this thing or not?"
"I have moved pass him, you know," Harley muttered. "A girl doesn't have to keep putting up with a bad guy. Bad guys are cool and all, but he was the worst. You're a good bad guy, aren't you, Thorn?" The mighty lion swished his tail, bumped his chin against Harley's gloved palm, and seemed definitely to agree that he was indeed a very good bad guy.
Selina smiled at the sight, but Ivy just scoffed. "Sure you have," she muttered under her breath. "Can we just get this thing over with?"
Glancing between the two, Selina opened her mouth and almost called them out -- almost, but then she shut her mouth and decided to keep her opinion to herself. After all, they were always understanding with her Bat fiasco.
